About the Position

Job Title: Sterile Processing Technician Profession: Tech Specialty: Sterile Processing Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Evening Hours per Shift: 5-8 Hours Experience: 1+ Years License: N/A Certifications: CRCST Preferred Must-Have: - STERILE PROCESSING - MEDICAL EQUIPMENT ASSEMBLY - MEDICAL EQUIPMENT CLEANING - MEDICAL EQUIPMENT STERILIZATION - UNIVERSAL PRECAUTIONS Description: The position is responsible for assembling, cleaning, disinfecting, sterilizing, and/or storing procedure trays, surgical trays, and equipment. Also assembles, distributes, and/or delivers disposable and durable medical equipment, case carts, and supplies to fill the needs of the operating room and nursing units. Operates and monitors sterilization equipment. Disassembles carts and follows universal precautions for decontamination. Sterilizes and disinfects durable medical equipment and instruments. Packages clean supplies and instruments. Maintains records for all instruments and transports sterilized items as needed. Assembles sterilized instruments and rechecks all instruments for cleanliness and/or impairment. Properly checks power equipment. Takes measures to allow for easy instrument tracking including following labeling processes and reporting/documenting all missing instruments. Communicates the equipment and instrument inventory status with staff and charge nurse. Responds to emergency situations by ensuring all emergency, trauma, and add-on cases are supplied properly and delivered to the operating room in a timely manner. Utilizes applications and technology to accurately facilitate record keeping in accordance with state and federal regulations. Provides on-the-job training to newly hired associates in the department. Promotes the mission, vision, and values of the organization and abides by service behavior standards. Performs other duties as assigned. May be required to work overtime based on business need. May be required to float to other departments based on business need. May be required to be placed on-call during a regularly scheduled shift.
