Join Altria as a Manufacturing Controls Systems Architect and become the go‑to expert who unifies PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, and OEM equipment into reliable, high‑performance production ecosystems.

Role setup
  • Onsite base: Hopkinsville, KY
  • Regional travel: Approximately 30–40% to Clarksville, TN and Nashville, TN
Your impact
  • Engineer, program, and stabilize PLC/HMI/SCADA solutions across processing, packaging, and conveying lines.
  • Integrate OEM assets into plant‑wide architectures; configure and support VFDs, servos, instrumentation, and process controls.
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical, controls, and communications issues; provide real‑time support during downtime events.
  • Standardize code frameworks, documentation, backups, and change management.
  • Own the controls workstream for capital projects from concept through FAT/SAT, commissioning, and validation.
  • Lead RCAs and institute corrective actions for persistent failures; identify automation and process improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with OEMs, system integrators, contractors, and cross‑functional IWS partners to drive operational excellence.
  • Champion safety: adhere to OSHA, electrical, and machine safety standards; model lockout/tagout best practices.
What makes you successful here
  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Controls, Mechatronics, or related discipline.
  • 5+ years in manufacturing controls, preferably supporting high‑speed automated equipment.
  • Proficiency with Rockwell/Allen‑Bradley, Wonderware, FactoryTalk, HMIs, SCADA, and industrial networking.
  • Hands‑on with VFDs, servo systems, instrumentation, and plant electrical design; able to read/develop schematics and panels.
  • Exposure to automated processing and packaging, batch systems, MES, OEE, and data collection.
  • Strong troubleshooting chops, clear communication, and solid project coordination; working knowledge of OSHA and machine safety.
Pay and rewards

We set pay by weighing your experience, knowledge, and qualifications. Target range: $104,900.00 to $152,150.00.
