Associate Attorney – New York Workers’ Compensation

Vaughan McLean seeks an admitted attorney with 1–3 years of New York legal practice experience to join our New York Workers’ Compensation Practice Group.

This is a hybrid position with opportunities available in our New York office locations in Albany, Syracuse, Buffalo, New York City, and Long Island.

Prior practice experience with New York Workers’ Compensation claims or civil litigation is preferred but not required. The position requires excellent writing and communication skills, sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to excel in a fast-paced litigation practice.

Associate Attorneys in this practice have a unique opportunity to develop key litigation and trial skills and engage in direct client contact and case involvement. The Partners in the New York Workers’ Compensation Practice Group are fully committed to providing each attorney with the necessary training, professional development, team integration, and continued mentorship to support success and growth within the practice.

Compensation: $100,000–$150,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
Responsibilities

• Conduct legal research and analysis on a wide range of New York Workers’ Compensation matters.
• Draft legal documents, including briefs, pleadings, motions, and legal summaries, evaluations, and analyses.
• Represent clients in court and administrative proceedings, depositions of expert witnesses, and negotiations.
• Collaborate with senior attorneys to develop case strategies and provide legal advice.
• Assist in managing case files, deadlines, and client communications.
• Stay current on changes in laws and regulations relevant to the practice area.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to practice law in New York and in good standing.
• Proficiency with legal research tools, such as Westlaw.
• Strong writing skills with the ability to draft clear, concise, and effective legal documents.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
