Head Custodian

The head custodian is responsible to the custodial supervisor and to the building administrator of the building assigned. The head custodian is responsible to the building administrator for completing work assignments and to the custodial supervisor for the methods, materials and equipment used in fulfilling the duties assigned. Major responsibilities include the operation of the heating and ventilating equipment; the cleaning of the building according to schedule; maintenance and care of school grounds; reporting of problems or conditions affecting the safety of the building, and directing the program and work of Custodians I and II who are assigned to the building.

Minimum education/certification: High school diploma or equivalent

Special knowledge/skills: Ability to interpret written and/or oral requests Ability to assist, direct and instruct new employees in proper procedures Willingness to cooperate and assist the building administrator with school and community activities Supervisory capabilities Ability to improve methods relevant to promoting efficiency in operations Effective communication and interpersonal skills

Minimum experience: Experience as a custodian is preferred

Salary: $17.00/hour - $25.00/hour Based on experience 260 Service Days
