Position Summary

The Maintenance Technician performs preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance to ensure Hillview

Mental Health Center and Valley Housing Foundation facilities remain safe, functional, and compliant. The

position performs routine building maintenance, coordinates with outside contractors, and supports a safe,

clean environment for employees, clients, and visitors.

Essential Functions

• Perform preventive and routine maintenance on building interiors and exteriors.
• Complete basic plumbing, carpentry, painting, minor electrical, and mechanical repairs under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor.
• Conduct routine facility inspections and identify maintenance needs.
• Respond to maintenance requests and after-hours emergencies as assigned.
• Coordinate access for contractors and vendors performing facility repairs.
• Order and maintain janitorial, maintenance, and facility supplies.
• Perform basic troubleshooting and recommend repair solutions.
• Maintain accurate maintenance logs and work orders.
• Follow OSHA safety standards, infection control practices, and agency policies.
• Support special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum three (3) years of building maintenance experience.
• Valid California Driver License with an acceptable driving record.

• Working knowledge of hand and power tools and safe operating procedures.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in behavioral health and supportive housing environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bilingual English/Spanish.
• Basic computer skills.
• Experience in healthcare, behavioral health, or supportive housing facilities.
• Experience working around individuals with mental health disabilities.

Physical Demands

• Frequent standing, walking, climbing ladders, bending, kneeling, reaching, lifting and carrying up to 50

pounds, operating tools and equipment, and occasional work outdoors.

Work Environment

• Behavioral health clinics, administrative offices, and supportive housing facilities. Exposure to varying weather conditions, maintenance equipment, and occupied client environments.
