Registered Nurse (Operating Room)

Surgical Services RN

You work under the direction of the Director of Surgery, the Surgical Services RN is accountable for planning, delegating, and coordinating nursing care for assigned patients, utilizing the nursing process. The RN is responsible for upholding standards of care and practice, as well as assisting in the management of department staff (including LPNs, ORTs/CSTs, Nursing Assistants, and Secretaries) and the proper handling of supplies and equipment. Key Responsibilities:

• Plans, delegates, and coordinates nursing care for a specific patient population.
• Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates individualized patient care plans.
• Prepares and administers medications as ordered and oversees the administration of medications in the sterile field.
• Maintains accurate records by completing all required documentation, including charge mechanisms and information transfers.
• Ensures the department is ready for patient care at all times.
• Supervises and assigns tasks to LPNs, ORTs/CSTs, and Nursing Assistants, ensuring accuracy in their work.
• Enforces safety and infection control policies to maintain a safe and sterile environment.
• Responds appropriately to emergencies and regularly checks emergency supplies and equipment.
• Performs both scrub and circulating roles in surgery as needed.
• Restocks rooms daily, alerting the appropriate personnel when supplies are low.
• Carries out additional duties as assigned by the Director of Surgery.

REQUIRED KILLS AND CERTIFICATIONS:

• Valid SC RN License.
• Prior Operating Room experience required.
