Job Description

This role focuses on building dredging equipment from the ground up, including pontoons, cutterheads, pump systems, hydraulic lines, and structural components. You will work in a heavy‑equipment manufacturing environment that blends mechanical assembly, welding, rigging, electrical wiring, and troubleshooting to produce large, complex machinery.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble dredging equipment from initial components to fully built machines, including pontoons, cutterheads, pump systems, hydraulic lines, and structural structures.
  • Interpret and follow blueprints and schematics to ensure accurate mechanical and electrical assembly.
  • Perform mechanical assembly tasks such as fitting, fastening, and aligning parts for machine builds.
  • Carry out electrical assembly and wiring of components, using proper techniques and safety practices.
  • Install and connect hydraulic lines and related components for proper system function.
  • Use power tools and hand tools safely and effectively during fabrication and assembly work.
  • Assist with welding and rigging activities involved in lifting, positioning, and securing heavy parts.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues during assembly and testing, and make necessary adjustments.
  • Collaborate closely with other technicians and team members to plan builds and determine the best methods for assembling equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and spacious work area to support safe and efficient production.
  • Follow all safety procedures and guidelines appropriate for heavy‑equipment manufacturing.
Essential Skills
  • Proficiency in blueprint reading to accurately interpret mechanical designs and assembly requirements.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical and mechanical schematics for complex machinery.
  • Hands-on experience with machine building and mechanical assembly in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Skill in electrical wiring and electrical assembly for industrial equipment.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic systems and experience working with hydraulic lines and components.
  • Competence in using power tools and hand tools safely and effectively for assembly and fabrication.
  • Familiarity with rigging practices for moving and positioning large or heavy components.
  • Comfort working with large-scale equipment in a heavy‑equipment manufacturing environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with welding in support of structural assembly and equipment fabrication.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment and communicate clearly with other technicians.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to following technical documentation and safety procedures.

Work Environment

The role is based in a spacious manufacturing facility focused on large-scale dredging equipment. You will work around heavy machinery and large structural components, using mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic technologies and standard power tools. The position operates on a first-shift schedule from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., providing consistent daytime hours in a collaborative shop environment.

This is a Permanent position based out of New Richmond, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $30.00/hr.
