Life Enrichment Manager

Burcham Hills is an upscale senior living retirement community located in the backyard of Michigan State University in East Lansing, MI. We currently have a vacancy for a Full Time Life Enrichment Manager. The Life Enrichment Manager is responsible for is responsible for the planning and coordinating a wide and varied scope of activities and programming which meet the spiritual, emotional, intellectual, vocational, social, physical and environmental needs of the residents. The programming is designed to meet the needs and to develop future programs to help meet the wellness needs of the residents. The development of the programming must meet the requirements of the LCS Lifestyles and Health Services and the 8 Dimensions of Wellness. The Manager must support and illustrate the LCS Cares Program and Hospitality Promises. Work collaboratively with Recreation Therapy Manager to ensure cohesive approach across the Burcham Hills community, in addition to the following duties:

Some Essential Manager Duties:

• Interview, select, train, supervise and evaluate Recreation Assistants, Fitness Specialists and Techs, Volunteer Coordinator, and Salon staff.
• Assist in the planning and coordination of a balanced program of spiritual, emotional, intellectual, vocational, social, physical and environmental activities with the intent of including all residents in some area of lifestyle activity.
• Develop and maintain relationships with lecturers, volunteers, community resources, performers, and others who can provide programming to the residents.
• Network, plan, and coordinate with qualified educators, instructors and health professionals to provide program components.
• Assist in the planning and coordination of transportation to events and programs by meeting with residents to determine their needs and desires and then scheduling community drivers or outside resources if needed.
• Publicize events, programs, presentations, activities, etc.
• Assist with publications such as the Beacon, Beat, and other Burcham communications according to Burcham Hills branding standards.
• Assist with new resident orientation, interacting with other departments to ensure a smooth transition.
• Assist in the operation of Burcham Hills library.
• Provide individual and group educational opportunities for residents and staff in the area of disease prevention and management in the holistic spirit of the Lifestyle and Health Services Wellness Program.
• Interact with the resident and family members when a change in the resident’s condition necessitates additional services or a physical move within the continuum of care.

QUALIFICATIONS : Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise or Recreation related field required. Two years of appropriate professional experience in geriatrics, recreation, or social administration required, 5 years preferred. At least two years’ experience in directly managing staff. Possess, or be able to obtain within one month of employment, a current, valid Chauffer’s License with an excellent driving record. Ability to read, write, speak and comprehend written and oral instructions in English.
