General Summary
Provides comprehensive vision care in a community based educational clinic setting. Collaborates to combine technical expertise and patient education. Major Duties
- Assists with patient exams, including vision screenings and diagnostic tests.
- Performs pre-testing procedures such as measuring visual acuity, intraocular pressure, and other eye health assessments.
- Captures patient histories and document symptoms, medications, and relevant health information.
- Educates patients on eye care, correct lens application and maintenance of glasses or contact lenses.
- Provides guidance to patients in choosing, fitting, and obtaining eyeglasses and contact lenses based on prescription specifications, lifestyle considerations, and individual preferences.
- Adjusts, repairs, and maintains eyeglasses and frames as needed.
- Maintains accurate patient records, ensuring compliance with clinic policies and privacy regulations.
- Collaborates with the clinical team to provide seamless, patient-centered care.
- Supports community education programs, workshops, and outreach initiatives related to eye health.
- Maintains a clean, organized, and safe clinical environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two years' relevant experience.
- Experience in optometric or ophthalmology practice.
- Strong knowledge of eye anatomy, vision correction devices, and diagnostic testing procedures.
- Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to accurately measure, fit, and dispense eyewear.
- Ability to work with diverse patient populations.
- Proven commitment to patient education, community outreach, and promoting eye health. Ability to multitask and maintain a safe, organized clinical environment.
