Department: Outpatient Rehab | Pediatrics Hours: Full-time | 7:30am - 5:30pm | Monday - Friday (hours may vary)

At Novant Health, our Audio Associates assist Audiologists with pediatric and difficult to test population to obtain hearing test results; and provides administrative and clerical support to department or service line.

What You'll Do

• Assist Audiologists with pediatric and difficult to test population to obtain hearing test results.
• Work with pediatric patients under the direction of an audiologist in the sound booth to elicit accurate responses to sound during hearing evaluations.
• Assess mood, temperament, and developmental level of patient. Able to tailor approach and techniques based on patient assessment.
• Effectively able to condition patient to respond to stimulus and elicit consistent responses.
• Correctly identifies expressions and body language as a response to sound.
• Keeps patient and parent on task, redirects, and minimizes distractions during testing as well as makes adjustments to techniques throughout session when patient becomes bored or disinterested.
• Uses critical thinking skills to adapt testing techniques for patients with complex health histories or neurodevelopmental delays.
• Provides administrative and clerical support to department or service line.
• Consistently makes appropriate arrangements for additional services to be provided by audiologist.
• Provides appointment specific information to patients including testing instruction and preparation.
• Obtains physician medical clearance, submits requests for prior authorization to patient's insurance, and submits purchase order requisitions.
• Orders hearing aids and listening devices from manufacturers. Prepares, drop offs, and receives shipments. Tracks orders through to completion to ensure timely service.
• Corresponds with medical records/doctors offices/early intervention programs.

What We're Looking For

• Education: High School Diploma or GED, required. Trained by Licensed Audiologist (may be completed upon hire) required.
• Experience: Minimum of one year successful experience working with children of all ages from birth through adolescents, preferred.
• Licensure/Certification: Appropriate state licensure required.
• Additional Skills (required):
• Experience in supporting pediatric patients with neurodevelopmental delays.
• Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing.
• Able to complete appropriate training and education of Electronic Medical Records.
• Human relations and interpersonal skills necessary for interacting with pediatric patients which may include patients with complex cases or who are developmentally delayed.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient in Word, Excel, and the use of office machines. Intermediate skills with computer and software applications.
• Additional Skills (preferred): Experience demonstrating comfort and confidence when communicating with parents, and ability to problem solve and modify techniques in response to changes/problems as needed. One year clerical/secretarial/office support, or demonstrated ability to perform job functions. One year experience in a healthcare environment.
