Payroll Specialist/Front Office Coordinator

The Front Office Coordinator/Payroll Specialist serves as the face of Express Employment Professionals - Hattiesburg and is often the first person applicants, associates, clients, and visitors interact with. This dual-role position is essential to creating an exceptional customer experience while supporting the day-to-day administrative and payroll operations of the office.


The ideal candidate is professional, organized, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. This individual will manage the front office, coordinate applicant flow, assist with recruiting support, and process weekly payroll with accuracy and confidentiality. While payroll experience is preferred, candidates with strong administrative skills, exceptional customer service, and the ability to learn quickly are encouraged to apply.


Key Responsibilities

Front Office & Customer Service

• Serve as the first point of contact by greeting applicants, associates, clients, and visitors with professionalism and enthusiasm.
• Answer and direct incoming telephone calls promptly and courteously.
• Manage applicant flow to ensure an efficient, organized, and welcoming experience.
• Assist applicants with employment paperwork, onboarding documents, orientation packets, and skills assessments.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and professional office environment that reflects the Express brand.
• Monitor and replenish office supplies, employment forms, orientation materials, and marketing resources.

Payroll & Administrative Support

• Process weekly payroll accurately and efficiently while maintaining strict confidentiality.
• Collect, review, and verify employee timecards for accuracy.
• Respond to payroll-related questions from associates and assist in resolving payroll discrepancies.
• Distribute payroll checks and direct deposit information in accordance with company procedures.
• Prepare correspondence, maintain filing systems, update records, and perform general administrative duties.
• Support the Employment Specialists and Business Development team with administrative projects as needed.

Team & Office Support

• Maintain confidentiality of applicant, associate, client, and company information.
• Contribute to office goals by providing outstanding customer service to both internal and external customers.
• Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and a positive attitude while representing Express Employment Professionals in the Hattiesburg community.
• Assist with special projects and office initiatives that contribute to the growth and success of the branch.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous customer service, receptionist, administrative, or office coordination experience required.
• Payroll experience preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Professional appearance and demeanor.
• High level of discretion when handling confidential information.
• Positive, team-oriented attitude with a passion for helping people succeed.

Hour of Operation

• Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

Pay Range D.O.E

• $18.00-$22.00
