Job Responsibilities
Electrician II The Department of Administration's (Admin) Division of Facilities Management and Property Services is seeking an experienced Electrician II to join the team. Facilities Management (FM) maintains and operates approximately 53 buildings, which include the State House, Capitol Complex Office Buildings, the Governor's Mansion and other buildings in the Columbia area. In this role you will perform advanced electrical and building maintenance work for all Admin-owned, contracted, and maintained facilities, including inspections, preventative maintenance, repairs, and installations of secondary electrical systems. Provide leadership and operational support to FM electricians, coordinating work orders, team activities, and oversight of plumbing and contracted maintenance projects to ensure safe and efficient facility operations.

Responsibilities of the Electrician II:
- Perform assigned maintenance, repair and renovation electrical tasks to minimize unexpected and premature equipment failures in accordance with established policies, procedures and good work practices.
- Assist with maintenance, repair and renovation tasks of other various trades, individually or as a part of a team.
- Complete as required all daily work order entries on the SCEIS plant maintenance phone app on all assigned tasks to ensure accuracy of records.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating professionally and courteously with supervisors, team members, other FM employees, tenants, and the general public regarding work in progress, scheduling issues, work requests, pending FM activities, and other key information on the status of building conditions that are established by the supervisors.
- Identify, recommend and request equipment, material, supplies and training needed to ensure that necessary resources are available to complete work tasks and to improve efficiency, effectiveness and safety in completing assigned tasks.
- Perform other duties as assigned in order to ensure the success of FM's mission by offering guidance, promoting teamwork and cooperation, and working to resolve challenges.
- A high school diploma or equivalent and at least 5 years of higher-level experience in all phases of the installation, repair or maintenance of secondary building electrical systems, including commercial and industrial buildings.
- Experience in the installation, repair or maintenance of building systems (General Building Maintenance).
- Must possess a valid Class "D" South Carolina Driver's license.
- Knowledge of or ability to learn national and local electrical regulations and code requirements.
- Knowledge of trade safety practices.
- Basic knowledge of techniques, methods, requirements and practices used in the trade, including but not limited to basic arithmetic and units of measure.
- Skill in making emergency repairs and adjustments to trade equipment.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to use judgment and initiative to complete routine work without constant supervision.
- Ability to comprehend blueprints, plans, specifications and equipment manufacturer's technical information.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, plan and complete work.
- Ability to communicate in writing and orally.
- Ability to maintain accurate records relating to time, materials and services provided.
- Ability to work with and assist other trade specialists as needed.
- Ability to work as a part of a team or independently as necessary.
- Position may require employee to work evenings and weekends.
- Position requires on-call 24/7 shifts and call back: participation in on-call program on rotating basis.
- Position requires routine driver duties.
- Position requires frequent stooping, bending and standing for long periods of time, climbing ladders and stairs, working in confined spaces, hot, hazardous and noisy locations and in adverse weather conditions.
- Position requires frequent lifting: 50 lbs.
- Position requires up-to-date certification(s).
- Position requires work during inclement weather and emergency conditions.
