CNC / EDM Machine Operator

Job Summary The CNC Machine Operator will work at the Parsippany, NJ Metem a GE Power business manufacturing plant and operate a variety of production equipment and tooling. You will also have ownership of safety, compliance, quality, and productivity. Responsibilities Set‑up and operate CNC machines to perform 3, 4, and 5 axis machining operations. Perform conventional milling/drilling, fast hole drilling, graphite shaping on metal castings, forgings and bar stock according to specifications and set‑up instructions, applying knowledge of machining methods. Lift or use material handling equipment to position and secure workpiece on machine table or holding device. Select and install tooling, place tools in automatic‑tool‑changer in sequence specified on process sheet. Record production inspection results in computer data system. Observe numerical displays on control panel and compare with data on process sheet to verify dimensional adjustments, feed rates and speed of machining cuts. Check program at start of each shift and record and inspect key dimensions for conformance to specifications using micrometer and precision dial gauges. Troubleshoot production problems and report unusual problems or conditions to supervisor. Deburr all pieces as per specifications and good machining practice. Maintain tools and measuring instruments supplied by company. Promote a culture focused on safe machine operations and material handling procedures. Qualifications High School Diploma / GED. Minimum of 1 year experience in EDM/CNC or tooling production or equivalent in a manufacturing environment. Ability to work 3rd shift (10pm‑6am). Background in machine operation, assembly, or equipment maintenance. Comfortable working with tools and following manufacturing work instructions. Ability to lift/push/pull at least 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation. Ability to work overtime as required, including occasional weekend shift. Willingness to wear all required personal protective equipment: safety glasses, gloves, ear plugs, and safety shoes. Proficient shop math skills. Basic mechanical skills. Basic understanding of Microsoft Word and Excel. Demonstrated positive attitude, strong work ethic, and self‑motivation. Ability to follow written instructions and take verbal instructions for multiple assembly tasks. Strong communication and follow‑up skills. Ability to work with computerized shop floor tools. Strong team player and flexible willingness to move to different areas. Pay Base hourly pay range: $27/hr - $30.50/hr plus 10% shift differential.
