Retail Relationship Banker

Identifies customer needs and provides advice and guidance regarding financial solutions that are in the best interests of customers. Responsibilities Engage customers to complete needs assessments and recommend tailored solutions addressing both sales and service needs. Proactively engage with existing customers and prospects to grow loyalty and identify immediate/future opportunities. Provide advice and guidance on available digital and self‑serve options to simplify banking. Map customer transactions and travel customers through the branch and various channels. Generate appointments and build new relationships within the community. Resolve questions and issues through consumer credit audits and quality checks to ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and lending policies. Apply the risk management framework to protect the bank’s assets and maintain portfolio quality. Make credit recommendations for personal lending transactions, including home financing, in accordance with sound credit granting principles and bank policies. Collaborate with branch and market teams, integrate marketing promotions and programs into customer conversations. Document work information to ensure accuracy and completeness. Identify and report suspicious activity related to money laundering. Analyze issues and determine next steps, including handling escalations. Qualifications Typically 2–3 years of relevant experience and a post‑secondary degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Working knowledge of personal and small‑business customer needs and solutions. Knowledge of retail investments and lending products. Experience in a consultative customer service or sales role. Strong interpersonal, listening, problem‑solving, and communication (verbal & written) skills. Resourceful self‑starter with confidence to approach customers. Canada‑only Requirements Registration to sell investment products completed (as appropriate for the jurisdiction). Appropriate lending qualifications and designations. U.S.‑only Requirements Position acts as an originator of consumer loans per Regulation Z, Regulation G, and the S.A.F.E. Act. Requires Federal registration with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry. Criminal background review and credit history evaluation.
