A&P Mechanic PositionSTS Technical Services is hiring an A&P Mechanic in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. This role supports depot-level aircraft maintenance, repair, inspection and testing across mechanical systems, components and aircraft structures. The position is designed for an experienced aviation maintenance professional with strong troubleshooting skills and hands-on experience working with hydraulic, pneumatic, plumbing, rigging and mechanical systems.The A&P Mechanic will inspect, repair, assemble and test aircraft components and systems using approved maintenance procedures, OEM technical data, work package instructions, hand tools and testing equipment. Work may involve engines, power brake units, auxiliary electric motors, carburetors, spark igniters, valves, pumps, fuselage structures, wings, oil tanks, fuel tanks and related aircraft systems.ResponsibilitiesPerform routine inspections and special maintenance to help prevent aircraft mechanical system and component failuresPerform operational checks on hydraulic systemsInspect and troubleshoot pneumatic systemsSupport aircraft plumbing, precision assemblies, rigging and control systemsDetermine whether components should be repaired or replacedIdentify required repair methods and necessary replacement partsObtain required parts from Stores or departmental suppliesRepair, rework and modify worn or defective assembliesMake component alterations or changes when requiredFollow FAA-approved maintenance proceduresUse OEM technical data and work package instructionsConsult the Maintenance Lead when technical assistance is requiredInspect completed work before signoffPerform rework when necessaryVerify repaired components meet prescribed standards and tolerancesPerform serviceability testing using OEM-specified test equipmentComplete required work package documentationSign or stamp completed operations as requiredSubmit completed and in-progress work to the Maintenance Lead for reviewSubmit work to Quality Assurance for required inspections and airworthiness recertificationProvide requested performance statistics and operational dataAccurately account for time and materials used during inspection and maintenance activitiesQualificationsHigh school diploma or GEDGenerally five to seven or more years of relevant aircraft maintenance experienceRecent depot-level aircraft maintenance and repair experienceExperience repairing mechanical aircraft systems and componentsExperience working with hydraulic systemsExperience with pneumatic systems and aircraft plumbingExperience with aircraft riggingAbility to interpret OEM technical dataAbility to follow FAA-approved work package instructionsExperience using power and pneumatic hand toolsStrong aircraft troubleshooting and repair skillsKnowledge of machines and tools including their use, repair and maintenanceKnowledge of FAA aircraft maintenance requirementsAbility to inspect and install aircraft parts and componentsAbility to work across multiple technical areasStrong customer service skillsPreferred QualificationsFAA Airframe and Powerplant LicenseAircraft structures experienceTraining and demonstrated proficiency on an aircraft typeWorking Conditions and RequirementsAbility to work safely while following OSHA, EPA, state and federal regulatory requirementsAbility to wear a respirator in accordance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.134 when requiredAbility to work flexible hours and different shifts when requiredSubject to random drug and alcohol testing under applicable FAA regulationsGeneral ExpectationsFollow company values, policies, procedures and departmental requirementsIncorporate Lean and P3E processes into daily activitiesSupport continuous improvement of processes and proceduresProtect confidential and proprietary informationMeet assigned work schedule requirementsPerform additional duties as assignedAbout STS Technical ServicesSTS Technical Services is a Top 100 Staffing Firm that partners with leading aerospace, manufacturing, defense and industrial organizations across the United States.
