Summary

As a member of the Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Department reporting to the EH&S Manager, the Safety Coordinator is responsible for making decisions around day-to-day safety issues that may arise in the plant. The primary responsibilities of the Safety Coordinator are to manage all areas of the Safety Key Performance Indicator (KPI) Program, develop and deliver training encompassed around the Company's core safety programs, and drive and audit corrective action and data driven programs. Under the direction of the EH&S Manager, the Safety Coordinator will establish and promote a safe, accident free, and healthy work environment. The incumbent plans and coordinates safety-based activities and training to maintain compliance with Company, state, local and federal regulations and provides assistance to other department heads to promote and maintain a productive EH&S culture.

What You'll Do:

Manage EHS Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Compliance Programs

• Support the department's daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual EHS performance metrics and reporting requirements.
• Assist in administering, monitoring, and improving key EHS processes, audits, reports, and compliance programs.
• Analyze EHS data and develop dashboards, graphs, reports, and presentations to identify trends and drive proactive decision-making.
• Coach employees and supervisors on EHS program requirements and best practices.
• Assist in developing action plans and improvement initiatives based on KPI performance and audit results.

Incident Reporting, Investigation, and Corrective Action Management

• Review incident reports for quality, accuracy, completeness, and proper root cause identification.
• Lead or assist in incident investigations, near-hit investigations, and injury analysis, including root cause analysis and identifying corrective and preventive actions.
• Track corrective actions to completion and verify effectiveness.
• Coach employees and supervisors on proper incident reporting and investigation techniques.
• Utilize incident trend data to identify recurring risks and opportunities for improvement.

Hazard Recognition and Risk Management

• Review hazard reports and near-hit reports to ensure accurate hazard identification and risk evaluation.
• Ensure corrective actions and target completion dates are established and effectively managed.
• Conduct and facilitate risk assessments and job hazard analyses.
• Proactively identify workplace hazards and collaborate with departments to implement appropriate controls.
• Assist with the development and execution of risk reduction initiatives.

Non-Routine Task and Behavioral Safety Programs

• Review non-routine task assessments to ensure hazards are properly identified and mitigated.
• Evaluate effectiveness of hazard controls and safe work practices.
• Coach employees and leaders regarding safe work procedures and risk management expectations.
• Support the Behavioral Safety Program through coaching, observations, and trend analysis.
• Review behavioral audit data to identify opportunities for training and improvement.

Safety Audits and Inspections

• Conduct routine facility inspections and safety audits to verify compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements and follow up on audit findings and ensure corrective actions are completed.
• Provide guidance and support to departments for continuous improvement efforts.
• Participate in corporate, regulatory, and third-party audits as needed.

Safety Training and Employee Development

• Coordinate and facilitate new hire orientation and onboarding safety training.
• Assist in developing, updating, and delivering monthly EHS training programs.
• Create and distribute safety alerts and communications following incidents, observations, and identified hazards.
• Develop engaging pre-shift safety topics and toolbox talks.
• Coach supervisors and employees on effective safety communication and training delivery.
• Evaluate training effectiveness and recommend improvements when necessary.

What You'll Bring:

Education

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Safety Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred. Degree must be from an accredited institution.

Experience

• Minimum 3-5 years of Environmental, Health & Safety experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or production environment required.
• Experience administering EHS programs, conducting audits, leading investigations, facilitating training, and managing corrective action systems.
• Experience supporting environmental compliance programs including air, water, wastewater, waste management, and industrial hygiene monitoring preferred.
• Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment strongly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and applicable environmental regulations.
• Strong understanding of incident investigation methodologies and root cause analysis techniques.
• Ability to conduct risk assessments, hazard analyses, audits, inspections, and behavioral observations.
• Ability to develop, deliver, and facilitate effective safety training programs.
• Knowledge of environmental permitting, recordkeeping, reporting requirements, and compliance programs preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to influence, lead, mentor, and coach employees and supervisors on EHS best practices.
• Excellent communication, organizational, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Experience utilizing EHS management systems, KPI databases, and reporting tools preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to be available for emergency response support and provide after-hours assistance when required.
• Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and delivering sustainable EHS results.

Preferred Certifications

• OSHA 30-Hour Certification

What You'll Receive:

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay scale for this position is $75k to $85k. Placement in the range depends on several factors such as experience, skills, geography and internal equity and may change over time. This position qualifies for benefits and you will be eligible to participate in a bonus plan.
