Job Summary And Qualifications

Purpose: Responsible for overseeing the performance of tests executed by staff under his/her supervision. Responsible for ensuring that tests are performed in accordance with laboratory procedures and that applicable quality control requirements are met. Must be capable of performing tests in his/her section and responsible for the accuracy of tests. Works closely with other lab personnel and has frequent contact with nurses, physicians, other employees and patients, as required.

Job Relationship: Reports to Laboratory Director and Assistant Director/Manager.

Qualifications: Education: B.S. degree and graduation from an approved school of medical technology, ASCP or equivalent registry or eligible. Certification: Blood Bank Coordinator: SBB Certification preferred. Experience: Must have at least two years supervisory experience. Decision making substantiated by in depth knowledge of laboratory procedures, principles and instruments. Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Hours of Work: As scheduled by Laboratory Director to ensure appropriate coverage of department services. Must be able to work weekends as scheduled. Participates in on-call requirements as per department policy.
