Banking IT Manager - On Site 5 days NYC - up to 240K

Position Summary

A regulated financial services organization is seeking a Senior IT Manager/VP to serve as a strategic partner to the CIO. This is a business-facing leadership role best suited to someone with a strong Project Management or Business Analyst background within financial services technology, rather than a deeply technical or infrastructure-focused profile. The ideal candidate bridges business strategy and technology execution, translates business needs into technology direction, and personally owns key regulatory, budget, and executive-facing responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Partner directly with business leaders to understand evolving needs and translate them into technology strategy and actionable initiatives
• Lead and personally own cross-functional IT programs and projects from planning through delivery, coordinating across business units, technology teams, and vendors
• Personally lead engagement with regulators and auditors on examinations and findings, including hands-on remediation ownership
• Own and personally present IT budget, performance, and risk metrics (KPIs/KRIs) to the CIO, management committee, and senior leadership
• Drive the shift of IT from a technical support function to a recognized strategic business partner
• Manage IT budget planning, resource allocation, and vendor coordination, with clear personal accountability for outcomes
• Lead coordination and resolution of major incidents and critical problems, ensuring timely response and stakeholder communication
• Act on behalf of the CIO when necessary, representing IT strategy and priorities to executive stakeholders

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Systems, or related field (Master's preferred)
• 10–15 years of experience within banking or other regulated financial institutions, with a career path grounded in Project Management or Business Analysis rather than technical/infrastructure roles
• At least 4 years in a leadership role owning cross-functional programs or initiatives, with demonstrated business impact
• PMP, CBAP, or equivalent certification preferred
• Demonstrated experience personally engaging with regulators and examiners on findings and remediation
• Demonstrated experience personally presenting to senior executives, management committees, or boards
• Strong business acumen and a track record of translating business objectives into technology strategy
• General familiarity with core banking application platforms and IT governance frameworks (COBIT, NIST, ISO 27001) is a plus, but not the primary focus
• Direct experience owning budget, forecasting, and resource allocation decisions
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to bridge technical and non-technical audiences
• Strong PowerPoint and Excel skills for building and personally delivering executive-level reporting
