About the Role:

The Dishwasher plays a critical role in maintaining a clean and sanitary environment within healthcare and social assistance facilities by ensuring all dishware, utensils, and kitchen equipment are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized. This position supports the overall food service operation by efficiently managing the washing and drying of dishes to meet health and safety standards. The Dishwasher contributes to infection control by adhering to strict sanitization protocols, which is essential in healthcare settings to protect patients, staff, and visitors. The role requires physical stamina to handle repetitive motions, lifting, and standing for extended periods, ensuring a continuous workflow in a fast-paced environment. Ultimately, the Dishwasher helps maintain a hygienic and organized kitchen area, enabling smooth food service operations that support patient care and facility standards.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Basic reading and comprehension skills to understand instructions and safety protocols.
• Ability to lift and carry heavy items safely, typically up to 50 pounds.
• Capability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive motions throughout the work shift.
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, or holidays as required.
• Prior experience or familiarity with food service or kitchen sanitation practices is preferred but not mandatory.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Associate's degree preferred.
• Previous experience working in a healthcare or social assistance food service environment.
• Knowledge of infection control standards and procedures specific to healthcare settings.
• Certification in food safety or sanitation.
• Ability to communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
• Demonstrated reliability and strong work ethic in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

• Operate dishwashing machines and manually wash dishes, utensils, pots, and pans according to established sanitization procedures.
• Sort and organize clean dishes and kitchen equipment, ensuring they are stored properly and ready for use.
• Maintain cleanliness of the dishwashing area, including floors, sinks, and counters, to comply with health and safety regulations.
• Assist kitchen staff by transporting clean and dirty items between kitchen and dishwashing areas as needed.
• Follow all instructions and safety guidelines to prevent contamination and ensure a safe working environment.
