Lewis Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, a prominent African American Church in Fayetteville, North Carolina is seeking a dynamic and energetic individual for the position of Children's Ministry Coordinator.  The Children's Ministry includes children pre-K through fifth grade.  This person must possess a passion for working with children in all facets of the Children's Ministry in coordinating, planning, and implementing programs that guide and nurture them in their faith and academic development.  The goal of this ministry is to enable and equip children to become followers of Christ.  This is an effort inclusive of children, parents and volunteers within the church and the surrounding community.  Position requires individual to work 20 - 25 hours weekly, mandatory two (2) hours Wednesday evenings from 6:pm until 8:pm, and Sundays 10: am until 1: pm. Additional hours will be spread thought the work week, under the supervision of the Director and Associate Director of the Christian Education Department.

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

• Be attentive to the spiritual and educational needs, concerns, and hopes of children at various stages of development and their parents.
• Create and select biblically accurate, culturally relevant, and attractive teaching content and crafts
• Teach children biblical truths on their level and lead them in meaningful worship.
• Plan and implement opportunities for children to participate in relevant child-friendly activities in the church and community.
• Coordinate recognition of students’ academic achievements and test taking strategy workshops. 
• Advocate as a liaison for issues involving children in the church, school, and community.
• Plan and implement strategies to recruit children and volunteers for the Children’s Ministry.
• Maintain a current database of all current and potential Children’s Ministry children, parents, and volunteers.
• Implement workshops for training new and experienced volunteers.
• Evaluate and assess the effectiveness of all Children’s Ministry resources, suggest needed changes, and develop strategies for making improvements.
• Contribute to the compilation of the Youth Ministry Newsletter , Youth Ministry Handbook, and Procedures.
• Communicate and effectively collaborate as a team member with all Lewis Chapel staff.
• Attend Staff Meetings.
• Other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in one of the following areas: Education, Sociology, Social Work, Psychology, or related degree with emphasis in Human growth and development.
• Social medial savvy and strong computer skills.
• Effective communication skills, and strong command of the English Language.
• Stronge organizational skills.
• Must be willing to work flexible hours as needed. 
• Must pass a criminal background check and drug screening test.
