Senior Counsel

The client is seeking an experienced Senior Counsel to join its expanding insurance coverage litigation team. This strategic, client-facing role supports insurance carriers with first-party and third-party coverage matters, including defense against bad faith claims across Washington and other jurisdictions nationwide. The position emphasizes complex policy analysis, high-level litigation strategy, and proactive matter management. Responsibilities include analyzing insurance policy language and evaluating coverage positions for first- and third-party claims; drafting detailed coverage opinions and providing strategic risk assessments; and preparing pleadings, dispositive motions, discovery, and supporting briefs in coverage litigation and bad faith disputes. The role also involves conducting advanced legal research and drafting analytical memoranda, representing clients in depositions, hearings, mediations, and related proceedings, and managing active matters independently, including strategy development, deadlines, and client communications. The ideal candidate has active admission to the Washington State Bar and significant experience in insurance coverage and coverage litigation, or a strong commercial litigation background with a demonstrated interest in coverage work. They should have excellent legal research, writing, and advocacy skills, along with the ability to manage complex, time-sensitive matters with minimal supervision. Strong client communication and strategic problem-solving capabilities are required, as is the proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple high-level matters simultaneously.
