Details CVICU setting with 6 beds and an average daily census of 3-5 patients Patient ratio of 1:2 Patient population includes post-op cardiac surgery (CABG, MVR, AVR), cardiac surgery re-admissions/ICU bounce-backs, structural heart-TAVR, mitral clips, pre-op cardiac patients, STEMI/NSTEMI, cardiogenic shock, and Inari procedures Manages complex post-op patients requiring multiple inotropic medications, hemodynamic instability management, active cardiac output management, extreme coagulopathy, open chest, OHS/Impella, ECMO (perfusionist on-site), CRRT (dialysis on-site), and IABP Night shift (3x12, 19:00-07:30) with potential rotation to 11:00-23:30 shifts based on unit needs 13-week contract Every third weekend required with potential for additional weekend coverage Required holiday coverage as scheduled Floating required to the MSICU as needed On-call requirement of 24-36 hours per rotating 6-week schedule Uses Epic charting system Requirements Active MD or Compact RN license required Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, CPI, and NIHSS required (OCN and TCNN preferred) BLS/ACLS/PALS must be AHA-issued only 3 years of direct CVICU experience required Immediate open heart post-op experience required Epic charting experience required Skilled in arterial line management, central line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration Experience with ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and respiratory failure care Experience with CABG, TAVR, valve repair/replacement, IABP, and Impella Experience managing CVVHD/CRRT and acute/chronic renal failure Experience titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips and administering continuous IV sedation Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management Experience obtaining 12-lead EKG/ECG Charge nurse experience preferred Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred Additional Information Provide critical care nursing to complex cardiovascular surgical and interventional patients Candidates must be comfortable floating within scope with no restrictions, with travelers prioritized for floating assignments Local candidates accepted at a reduced, local travel rate First-time travelers will be considered as long as they have CVICU and immediate open heart post-op experience Returning staff must be separated from the health system for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler Returning travelers must be away from the system for at least 6 months after completing an assignment Maximum of 7 days RTO can be requested; requests of more than 4 consecutive days require an additional week added to the back end of new contracts Schedule restrictions and special scheduling requests cannot be guaranteed Candidates must complete labs within 72 hours of signing the contract Compliance documents are due 5 days prior to start American Traveler Job ID P-759857.
