Salary Range: $175,000 – $225,000 per year (USD)

Position Overview

We are a leading security services organization seeking a hands‑on General Counsel who can seamlessly blend corporate, litigation, and employment law expertise. The ideal candidate will drive legal strategy, manage high‑volume employment matters—including wage‑and‑hour and PAGA class actions—and protect the company’s interests across all corporate transactions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead all corporate legal affairs: entity formation, governance, M&A, contracts, intellectual property, and regulatory compliance.
• Develop and execute a proactive litigation strategy for commercial disputes, employment claims, and class actions.
• Own employment‑law matters, with a focus on wage‑and‑hour, PAGA, and other labor class actions affecting a large hourly workforce.
• Advise senior leadership and the board on risk‑management, policy development, and strategic business decisions.
• Draft, negotiate, and review employment agreements, employee handbooks, separation agreements, and other HR‑related documents.
• Oversee investigations, internal audits, and compliance programs to mitigate legal exposure.
• Manage external counsel relationships and control outside‑counsel budgets.
• Mentor and supervise junior legal staff, providing training on corporate and employment‑law best practices.

Essential Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Active California Bar license (required).
• Minimum 8 years of progressive legal experience with at least 4 years in a senior in‑house or law‑firm leadership role.
• Demonstrated expertise in employment law, especially wage‑and‑hour and PAGA litigation.
• Strong background in corporate law, M&A, contracts, and general business litigation.
• Experience supporting large, hourly workforces—preferably in services, staffing, or security sectors.
• Excellent oral and written communication, negotiation, and decision‑making skills.
• High ethical standards, practical problem‑solving ability, and a hands‑on work style.

Desired Experience

• Track record of managing multi‑jurisdictional employment claims and class actions.
• Leadership experience guiding a legal team or department.
• Familiarity with data‑privacy regulations (CCPA, GDPR) and cybersecurity risk.
• Experience with corporate governance, board advisory, and shareholder matters.
