Property Accountant

Property Accountant Position Overview An Entry-Level Property Accountant supports the accounting team in managing the financial operations of a portfolio of real estate properties. This role focuses on maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with monthly reporting, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and property management requirements. Key Responsibilities Assist with monthly close processes , including preparing journal entries and account reconciliations Reconcile bank statements and balance sheet accounts for assigned properties Prepare and review monthly financial statements for individual properties Support accounts payable and accounts receivable , including tenant billing and rent tracking Maintain and update the general ledger to ensure accurate financial data Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities for property portfolios Analyze financial data and investigate variances or discrepancies Prepare documentation for audits and tax filings Ensure timely payments of expenses such as mortgages, taxes, and vendor invoices Work closely with property managers and operations teams to resolve financial issues Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 0–2 years of accounting experience (internship or entry-level acceptable) Basic understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles Strong Excel skills and familiarity with accounting systems (e.g., Yardi, RealPage is a plus) Detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills Preferred Skills Knowledge of property management or real estate accounting Ability to manage multiple properties and deadlines simultaneously Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally Key Competencies Attention to detail Time management Problem-solving Accountability and teamwork Benefits The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, and can participate in medical, dental, and vision benefits as well as the company’s 401(k) retirement plan. #J-18808-Ljbffr
