3-5 YEAR EXPERIENCED FAMILY LAW ASSOCIATE ATTORNEY

EXPERIENCED 3-5 YEARS Family Law Contract Attorney to support the firm in providing legal services to Firm's clients and assist with family law related client matters involving litigation and negotiate familial conflicts. Primary responsibilities include conducting legal research, drafting pleadings such as declarations, briefs, Memorandum of Points and Authorities, propounding and responding to discovery, and appearing in court for both non-litigious hearings and contested hearings. The right candidate must be comfortable with handling contested court hearings. This associate will also strategize, negotiate, and handle client representation. Although most services may be performed remotely, an occasional in-person hearing or in office appearance is needed (for example, to prepare Exhibit binders and/or appear for Trial or evidentiary hearings). Rate Offering a competitive billable hourly rate Roles and Responsibilities Assume responsibility for active family cases with supervision that involve dissolution of marriage, legal separation, parentage, child custody, spousal support, child support, attorney’s fees, as well as prosecuting and defending domestic violence restraining orders. Interact with clients from the beginning to the end of the case with responsiveness to the principal attorneys and clients. Conducting research using legislation, case law, and other legal texts as sources to offer input on the best strategy of a case. Drafting persuasive legal texts, including Declarations, Judicial Council forms, Memoranda of Points and Authorities. Analyze conflicts in legal matters, offer input to solutions, and as needed negotiate on behalf of clients. Communicate with Principals, and legal staff, opposing counsel, and clients to ensure cases are handled efficiently. Ability to propound and respond to discovery including but not limited to Requests for Production, Form Interrogatories, Special Interrogatories, Requests for Admission, Subpoenas, and Depositions. Draft, Review and Analyze Preliminary and Final Declarations of Disclosure. Appear in court in person and or remotely. Contract Associate has control over their schedule, but they are expected to be available to accept and provide assignments in a timely manner. Firm operates Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 6 pm. Video, phone, email, text, or other platforms are utilized. A commitment to learning and developing expertise in the area of family law. Must have availability for an anticipated Minimum Billing of 100 hours per month. Skills / Knowledge Required License to practice law in California. Basic understanding of financial documents, including tax returns, calculating support on XSpouse, completing Income and Expense Declarations; more advanced skills such as examining marital standard of living and business valuations is a plus. Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills including negotiation and conflict resolution skills. Meet deadlines, calendar court events, be timely and responsive to clients’ and co-workers’ communications. Superior management skills; self-reliant, good problem solver and results oriented. Strongcommunicationskills, both verbal andwritten.
