Who will you be working with? Locomotive Electrician, build and rebuild locomotives and locomotive assemblies. How will you make a difference? West Wareham, MA. The employee’s work site will depend on the current project or projects; potential for travel should be expected. What do we want to know about you? Must be able to work in West Wareham, MA. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Five years equivalent experience building and/or maintaining heavy equiepment. Strong understanding of locomotive maintenance and repair; manufacturing experience a plus. Preferred experience working with diesel engines, propulsion and pneumatics in large industry such as, Rail, Agriculture, Mining, Marine, etc.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations. Ability to communicate verbally with others.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply understanding to conduct instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

The employee is occasionally required to work at heights and might be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, and vibration from operating handheld pneumatic wrenches. The noise level in the work environment is usually above 85 decibels and hearing protection along with other personal protective equipment will be required to be worn. What will your typical day look like? Perform testing and troubleshoot electrical and pneumatic systems. Operate electrical test equipment. Design basic electrical circuits. Install electrical components. Run and terminate wiring. Cut, crimp, and install cabling. Pull wire harnessed through conduit. Drill and tap holes. Clean, sandblast and paint old parts. Disassemble, assemble locomotive parts and subassemblies. Know and understand FRA rules (training required.) Interact with customers (minimal.) Teamwork with customers and co-workers. You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.
