Senior Employee Communications ManagerThe Senior Employee Communications Manager serves as the sole subject matter expert for employee communications strategy, by creating and delivering content to align and engage employees within their divisions for Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, and Horizon Air. As an individual contributor, this role defines long-term strategy in partnership with leadership to develop and execute communications plans, make decisions, and provide strategic counsel and recommendations on divisional and company-wide employee communication.Key duties include:Serving as the lead subject matter expert in creating and distributing employee communications programs across diverse and complex employee groups.Defining long-term strategy for communication plans on program and initiative rollouts, change management, and other key priorities to ensure employees have a shared understanding of requirements and how they will be implemented.Influencing communications strategy and change management to incorporate innovative solutions and identify new ways to effectively reach employees.Collaborating with executives, divisional vice presidents, and divisional leaders to translate company strategy and business performance, understand the issues that matter to employee groups and their operations, and build communication plans to address those issues.Defining communication strategies to drive employee alignment, connection, and engagement, including in partnership with labor relations, division leadership, and Human Resources (HR).Collaborating with the external communications team to contribute to a blog or other external content as the communications subject matter expert on key issues.Owning major writing assignments including ghostwriting emails, scripts, speeches, and presentations for leaders across the business, as well as intranet content, newsletter copy, and other employee communications, consistently delivering on-time and high-quality work.Collaborating with Executive Communications peers and contributing to cross-divisional and enterprise-wide planning and execution of internal communications.Exercising considerable latitude and initiative to raise awareness, drive engagement, and build trust across Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, and Horizon Air.Leading the Communications team or External Relations division at internal company events, employee forums, and external events.Job-specific experience, education, and skills:Required:7 years of experience in communication in a corporate, non-profit, agency or newsroom environment, or other relevant experience.Bachelor's degree with a focus in communications or other relevant discipline, or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.Experience with cross-functional project management (e.g., planning, organizing, and managing resources to bring about the successful completion of specific project goals and objectives).Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Strong presentation/facilitation skills within small or large group settings.Demonstrated skills in effective communication to all levels within an operations organization.Ability to achieve desired results through personal accountability and partnerships with other groups with no direct reporting relationship to this role.Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).High school diploma or equivalent.Minimum age of 18.Must be authorized to work in the U.S.Preferred:Experience driving process and communication improvements in an organization of similar scope and size.Knowledge of Adobe products, as well as website development.Proficiency with multimedia communication approaches including photo, video, and visual communication design.Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams using project management principles.Job-specific leadership expectations include embodying our values to own safety, do the right thing, be caring and kind, and deliver performance.Salary range: $122,800 - $184,200 / yearPay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Hawaiian/Horizon employees.
