Role Description The Phlebotomist role at Promedica Flower Hospital is an on-site position located in the Toledo, Ohio Metropolitan Area. The phlebotomist is responsible for performing venipuncture and other blood collection procedures, properly labeling and handling specimens, and ensuring accurate documentation in accordance with hospital protocols. Day-to-day tasks include preparing patients for blood draws, explaining procedures, maintaining a clean and safe work area, and following infection control and safety standards. The role also involves collaborating with laboratory staff and clinical teams, responding to patient questions or concerns, and supporting efficient workflow in the lab and patient care areas. Qualifications Laboratory Skills and Blood Collection skills to safely obtain, process, and handle specimens. Medical Assisting and Medical Terminology skills to support clinical staff and communicate effectively in a healthcare setting. Foundational knowledge of Medicine relevant to phlebotomy procedures, patient care, and safety standards. Completion of an accredited phlebotomy or medical assisting program; certification preferred (e.g., CPT, RPT). Strong attention to detail, reliability, and adherence to infection control and regulatory requirements. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work compassionately with patients of all ages.
