Step into a meaningful contract role supporting elementary students as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) specializing in school-based services. In this essential position, you'll provide coverage during a maternity leave beginning as soon as August 17th and continuing through September 28th. With a commitment of three to four days per week (21-28 hours weekly), you will play a vital part in helping students achieve their fullest potential within self-contained autism programs.

As part of a collaborative team of educators and special education professionals, your skills will directly impact student access, development of functional skills, and participation in school activities. Your insight and expertise in occupational therapy will ensure students’ IEP (Individualized Education Program) goals are effectively addressed in a supportive and structured environment.

Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant training program
• Certified (or eligible for certification) by the American Occupational Therapy Association’s Board of Registry
• Valid Illinois Occupational Therapy Assistant license (or ability to obtain prior to start)
• Previous experience in school-based or pediatric settings strongly preferred
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct occupational therapy to eligible elementary students per IEP guidelines
• Collaborate closely with classroom staff and special education teams to design inclusive supports
• Foster the development of independence and access within specialized autism classrooms
• Maintain thorough documentation of progress and interventions
• Communicate with families and team members to support continuity of care
