Senior Mechanical Engineer – Building Systems Design (Hybrid 50% remote) Location: London, Kingston, or Kitchener, ON. Job Type: Full-Time Regular. Salary: $100,000 – $130,000 per year + Incentives + Benefits. Overview We design the mechanical systems inside buildings – not products. From HVAC and plumbing to central plants and control systems, our engineers design the mechanical infrastructure that makes buildings work, especially in complex environments like hospitals, schools, commercial towers, and government facilities. If you’re a Senior Mechanical Engineer (P.Eng) with proven experience designing mechanical systems for buildings, not equipment, this role offers a chance to shape communities while growing your leadership in Ontario’s consulting engineering sector. Key Responsibilities Stamp and review mechanical designs for diverse building systems. Design and lead mechanical systems for HVAC (including DDC controls), plumbing, and central plant systems (steam, hot water, chilled water). Conduct site visits, feasibility studies, and system troubleshooting. Lead and mentor intermediate and junior engineers/technologists. Collaborate with architects, structural, and electrical teams. Write technical reports and contribute to internal design standards. Qualifications P.Eng licensed in Ontario. 10+ years of experience in building mechanical systems. Deep expertise in HVAC, plumbing, and central plant design. Skilled in DDC control systems (specification writing, sequences of operation, diagnostics). Well‑versed in OBC, ASHRAE, CSA, and ASPE. Experience across sectors: commercial, institutional, industrial, healthcare. Effective communication with leadership and mentoring abilities. Previous experience with a consulting engineering firm in the building sector. Preferred Experience Experience with building‑focused consulting engineering firms such as WSP, Greer, Galloway, JL Richards, Crossey, Callidus, Goodkey, Weedmark, Modern Niagara, Smith & Andersen, McCallumSather, Jp2g, Algal Building Innovation Inc, and similar.
