Career Specialist

Career SpecialistViterbo is seeking a Career Specialist to serve as the primary liaison between the university and regional employers, cultivating and expanding work-based learning partnerships, internship sites, and career-connected learning opportunities. The Career Specialist will coordinate career fairs and employer engagement activities, provide individualized career coaching, and assist students in preparing for internships, employment, and post-graduate success. Full-time, 12-month. This is a grant-funded, limited-term position with an anticipated duration of five (5) years, contingent upon continued grant funding. Employment beyond the grant period is not guaranteed.Responsibilities:Serve as the primary liaison between the university and regional employers, cultivating relationships that support student career development and post-graduate success.Develop and expand partnerships with employers to increase internship sites, work-based learning experiences, and other career-connected learning opportunities.Serve as point person for the planning, execution, marketing, evaluation, and documentation of career programming (e.g. career fairs, special events, and ongoing programs) and employer visits.Provide individualized career coaching to help students explore career options, identify goals, and develop plans for internships, employment, and post-graduate success.Assist students with internship and employment preparation, including resumes, cover letters, interviewing, job-search strategies, and professional readiness.Deliver classroom presentations, workshops, and employer-focused programming that connect students with career resources and experiential learning opportunities.Complete grant reporting activities as needed.Manage Riipen platform, Handshake, and other career resources.Teach the 1-credit, half-semester UNST 310 Career Preparation course.Co-manage the Threads to Thrive Career Closet in collaboration with the College of Business and Marketing Club.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree preferred; will consider candidates with associate's degree.Two years relevant experience working employer relations, advising, student success, or a closely related field.Skills:Must demonstrate excellent event planning/execution, relationship building, presentation, interpersonal communication, and writing skills.Strong organizational, project management, marketing, and technology skills.Ability to work as part of a team, multi-task, and demonstrate good follow-through.Commitment to the mission of the career services office and the values of a Catholic, Franciscan institution.Alignment: Viterbo University seeks employees who will embrace the University mission and incorporate our values into their day-to-day work.Mission: The Viterbo University community prepares students for faithful service and ethical leadership.Values: In keeping with the tradition of our Franciscan founders, we hold the following core values:Contemplation, reflecting upon the presence of God in our lives and workHospitality, welcoming everyone we encounter as an honored guestIntegrity, striving for honesty in everything we say and doService, working for the common good in the spirit of humility and joyStewardship, practicing responsible use of all resources in our trustAbout the University: Viterbo University is a private, not-for-profit, Catholic, Franciscan institutions founded by the Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration in 1871.
