Compensation for this position is $22.00 - $24.00 per hours depending on experience. Job Summary New York Bariatric Group - Strive is looking for a Patient Services Representative who leads with empathy and genuinely cares about the people we serve. Often the first voice a patient hears, you will set the tone for their entire experience with our practice — and we go the extra mile to make sure that experience is one they remember for the right reasons. In this role, you will support both new and existing patients at every stage of their journey with us, from their first phone call through ongoing care, while gaining exposure to multiple areas of our practice along the way. The ideal candidate brings effective communication and people skills, a positive and professional presence, and the ability to multitask and stay initiative-taking as part of a team. Essential Functions Handles incoming and outgoing patient calls (50-100 per day), providing prompt, professional support. Responds to patient inquiries via phone, email, text, and online chat in a timely, courteous manner. Schedules and coordination for patient appointments, and consultations. Greets and assists patients in person at the front desk as needed. Enters and maintains accurate patient records in the EMR (Electronic Medical Record) system. Verifies insurance coverage and communicates information to patients. Processes prescription refill requests and prior-authorization requests. Following up with patients pending paperwork, insurance authorizations, or missing documentation. Routes calls to the appropriate provider or department and escalates complex or urgent matters to a supervisor when needed. Supports insurance verification for appointments and consultations. Performs general administrative duties supporting daily practice operations. Coordinates with clinical and administrative staff to ensure smooth patient flow. Maintains current knowledge of practice services, providers, and procedures to answer patient questions accurately. Meets individual and team performance goals for service level, call quality, and patient satisfaction. Maintains patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA. Qualifications Previous customer service experience, ideally in a healthcare or medical office setting. Experience with EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems. Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance processes a plus. Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Computer skill sets and literacy skills.
