Nurse Associate (RN), Pediatric Allergy/Pulm, Full-Time, Days

Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system at UChicago Medicine as a Nurse Associate (RN) in our Pediatric Allergy/Pulmonology Clinic. In this role, you partner with the clinical team to provide patients the highest quality of care. The Nurse Associate coordinates diagnostic and therapeutic regimens for a specified group of patients and maintains cohesion between clinical research, physicians, and patients. Essential Job Functions Conducts, responds to, and follows up on patient phone calls to the physician as appropriate. Assists physician in clinic or procedure area with patient examinations, diagnostic tests, and/or therapeutic procedures. Continuously monitors vital signs of patients under conscious sedation throughout procedure. Counsels patients concerning lifestyle modifications, medication regimens, side effects, and interactions using an appropriate psychosocial communication level. Communicates to clinics coordinators follow-up appointments, ancillary and/or pre-operative testing and scheduling needed for patient. Arranges patient admissions; coordinates ordering of tests/procedures with fellows, attendings, and other nursing staff. Assists physicians in coordination of research programs by screening patients for acceptance into clinical research and outcome programs. Maintains office file notes, reviews charts, and enters data for sectional demographic database; assists in summarization and analysis of data. Required Qualifications Must have experience working in a community health setting. Associate Degree in Nursing; BSN degree or higher preferred. Associate Degree Nurses are required to enroll in a BSN program within six (6) to nine (9) months of hire, and make progress toward and complete their BSN degree within 30 months. ADN nurses receive 100% tuition reimbursement towards a BSN degree from an accredited program. Must be an actively licensed Registered Nurse in the state of Illinois. Must have a minimum of two years' experience working as an RN. Active BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA). The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity.
