About the Position

Job Title: Certified OR Tech / Surgical Tech (CST) Profession: Surgical Services Specialty: Operating Room (CST) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Mid Hours per Shift: 5x8-Hour (15:00 - 23:00) Experience: 3 years preferred License: NY license required Certifications: CST, NBSTSA Must-Have: CST certification required unless the traveler has worked as a tech in New York prior to 2015. Experience with Epic charting system preferred. Description: The surgical tech will provide support in the operating room. The role requires skills in general OR procedures and laparoscopic assisted surgeries. Experience with diverse surgical procedures is necessary, including gastric bypass and sleeve surgeries. Knowledge of cardiovascular surgeries such as aortic aneurysm repair and carotid endarterectomy is essential. The tech will also assist in gynecological procedures, orthopedic surgeries, and various other surgical interventions. Aseptic technique and understanding of sterilization processes are necessary for this role. Candidates should have management experience and knowledge of sharps safety and specimen handling. Call duties will include six shifts for each eight-week time block, which will include weekends and holidays. Travel experience and flexibility to float to different areas are required. Candidates should be able to adapt to a fast-paced environment with a daily census of 40-60 surgical cases. Familiarity with robotic surgeries and specific surgical systems is a plus. Experience in handling therapeutic procedures such as dilation and curettage, and transurethral resection of the prostate is beneficial. Candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to quality care and patient safety. Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential for successful collaboration within the surgical team.
