CNC Machine OperatorThe CNC Machine Operator is responsible for assembling, repairing and fabricating metal parts by operating mechanical equipment. Assembles parts into sub-units or complete units. Uses blueprints and design sketches to ensure proper dimensions and tolerance levels of finished product. Familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures within the machinist field. Familiar and proficient in machine setups on CNC lathes and mills. Can be assigned to any work station as required by product demand. Housekeeping, safety, organization and teamwork are essential values within the department. Works under immediate supervision.Category: Hourly/Non-ExemptDept: Machine ShopReports to: Production Group LeaderHours:7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, additional hours as needed.Responsibilities• Set up CNC lathes and CNC mills• QC parts using measurement devices while reading blueprints• Runs machines and produces parts• Must complete Forklift Certification through Sonny's Enterprises.Essential duties and responsibilities include:Can use edge finder, zero machine and datum and can identify proper tools to run a jobFamiliar with calipers, micrometers and other measurement instruments to perform accurate measurements to part specificationsCan set up and maintain machinesAble to indicate visesSets up fixtures and tools per job setup sheets on CNC mills, lathesAble to indicate a circle on a CNC millSets work piece and tool height offsetsMust read blueprints and QC own parts, and will QC check parts produced by othersOperates CNC mills, lathes, sawsDeburrs parts with belt sander, drill press, or bench grinderUses blueprints and design sketches to ensure proper dimensions and tolerance levels of finished productAssembles parts into sub-units or complete units as requiredHas authority to stop production when nonconforming parts are detectedFollows safe manufacturing and material handling practices with adherence to PPE requirementsCan follow written and verbal details to complete assignmentsUnderstands and adheres to company 5S standardsUnderstands and adheres to employee handbook standardsCan accurately record labor times and adhere to productivity standardsCan compute, including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division of fractions and decimalsUnderstands and demonstrates the 5 core behavioral expectations: Communicative, Motivated, Responsible, dependable, Inquisitive.Maintain a clean, organized and safe work environmentWork with management team to communicate all problems or ideas for improvementSupport continuous improvement programsContributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.Other duties as assignedQualifications• Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required. Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures to promote effective safety operations.• Dependability-the individual is consistently at work and on time, follows instructions, responds to management direction and solicits feedback to improve performance.Experience & Education:• Must have exposure to machining concepts and processes• Must be able to pass a practical proficiency test• Minimum of 1 year prior experience or vocational degree• High School Diploma/GED required.Working Conditions & Physical Demands:• Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment.• Must be able to work in non-climate controlled environment where ambient air temperature can exceed outside air.• Will require heavy work (lifting greater than 30 pounds). Ability to carry 50 lbs. for 100 feet unassisted.• Machinery operation requires the use of safety PPE equipment to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, steel-toe shoes, and hardhats. Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted• Regularly required to stand or sit, and move about the facility.
