Material Handler

Job Summary: The Material Handler is responsible for all material handling activities throughout the blanking, assembly, and shipping receiving/warehouse areas. The position supports a teamwork mindset by collaborating with every group throughout the facility. Candidate must be able to utilize time and movements through the plant efficiently with a continuous improvement mindset. They must also ensure the effective operational up time and efficiency of the all processes as it pertains to the necessary shipping and receiving, raw materials, components, and packaging. Applications are broad and varied including various types of material handling equipment and methods. Shift: 1st and 2nd Shift availability Essential Responsibilities/Activities: • Operate various material handling equipment efficiently and safely • Perform daily checklist that defines preventative, predictive, and required maintenance and repairs • Plan and stage items adequately in an organized method to improve cleanliness and efficiency of material handling techniques • Works with the available groups to assure the necessary materials are available • Understands process documentation as it pertains to packaging requirements • Review containers prior to drop off to assure the correct item is labeled properly or the container is empty and adequate for its intended purpose • Understanding of limitations of material handling equipment as it pertains to specified duties • Follow all necessary work instructions as they pertain to the various duties throughout the plant • Weigh items for audit assurance and re-labelling and staging prior to shipment or storage as specified. • Stage shipments and perform dock audits as they pertain to the position requirements. • Loading and unloading trucks • Loading and unloading steel coils from trucks and also at the process • Assisting in movement of equipment or anything else that requires equipment that moves items by mechanical advantage • Sounds horn around corners and areas of limited visibility • Communicates issues in compliance with the Fast Action Response process Preferred Skills and Education: • High School Diploma and equivalent field experience required • 1-3 years of production related work experience in a manufacturing environment preferably with stamping presses • Proficient oral and written communication skills • Ability to work independently as well as a member of cross-functional team • Ability to concentrate and pay attention to details and handle multiple tasks simultaneously • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think logically under pressure • Experience loading and threading coils and feeding equipment • Work experience with blanking presses, press controls, and feeding equipment • Good oral and written communication skills • Interpersonal skills to work effectively with technical as well as non-tech personnel • Ability to work independently as well as a member of cross-functional team To Apply: Send resume to View email address on click.appcast.io with "Orick Material Handler" in the subject line
