Director, Digital Media

Position Overview

The Director, Digital Media leads digital strategy across Matrix Medical Communications' publishing and media properties. Working closely with editorial, sales, and production, this person grows our digital audiences and connects digital media with our HCP and DTC educational content.

The role reports to the Director of Operations and manages a team of digital producers, strategists, and analysts.

Key Responsibilities

Digital Strategy and Platforms

· Own digital strategy across Matrix's publishing and media platforms, including websites, digital editions, email, social, and other HCP or DTC portals

· Own the product roadmap for Matrix's digital platforms, prioritizing new features, tools and content types with editorial, design, and web development

· Oversee content management systems and digital publishing platforms day to day, working with IT and production to keep them current and effective

· Partner with web development and design on platform architecture, performance and scalability

Content and Audience Growth

· Partner with editorial leadership to adapt print content into digital-first formats and multichannel distribution

· Drive audience development, engagement and retention across digital channels

· Lead new digital product development from concept through launch, including subscription, access, and self-service features

Media, Sales, and Partnerships

· Oversee digital media planning and buying, managing relationships with programmatic and other partners tied to Matrix's owned digital properties

· Partner with sales to shape the digital components of sponsorship and advertising packages sold against Matrix's audience

· Represent the production team on client kickoff calls and brainstorming sessions, using feedback to inform new program development

Measurement and Innovation

· Work with digital measurement and reporting team, analyzing KPIs such as traffic, engagement, subscriber growth and ad performance to inform decision making

· Turn data into clear recommendations for editorial and sales leadership

· Track emerging digital publishing technology, marketing automation, audience and CRM tools and SEO, and recommend where Matrix should invest

· Lead the integration of AI-powered content generation, predictive analytics, and automation tools to optimize omnichannel communications efforts

Leadership

· Lead, mentor and develop the digital team, building a learning culture through training and feedback

· Serve as an emerging thought leader within Matrix and the wider industry, representing the company at digital events, conferences, and networking opportunities

Requirements

· 7-10 years' experience with a minimum of four (4) years' experience in digital communications, omnichannel marketing, or consulting/agency roles

· Expertise in digital analytics and performance measurement, including KPI development, and translating data into business and communications impact

· Exceptional presentation and communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex strategies to both internal and external stakeholders

· Knowledge of key industry regulations (e.g., GDPR, FDA, ABPI) as they pertain to data analytics and healthcare communications

· Strategic working knowledge in digital strategy, GEO, SEO, SEM, CRM, CMS, email marketing, social media, and/or UX/UI principle

· Working knowledge of AI LLMs, AI prompt engineering, and, proficiency, or at least knowledge of, workflow automation

· Demonstrated ability to lead teams, mentor junior staff, and manage client relationships effectively

· Proactive, entrepreneurial, and solution-oriented mindset
