Requirements
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) with OR/CVOR experience required
- Current BLS and ACLS certification required
- Scrubbing experience preferred
- Familiarity with Meditech EMR preferred
- Comfortable working day shifts and participating in weekday, weekend, and holiday call as required
- Ability to assist with complex cardiothoracic and vascular cases (CABG, thoracotomy, endo AAA, valve replacement, pacemaker)
- Flexible, self-starter attitude; able to float within the OR as needed

Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain the sterile field and surgical instruments for cardiovascular and general OR procedures
- Scrub and assist the surgical team during cases, passing instruments and handling specimens as needed
- Set up procedure-specific trays and equipment for CABG, thoracotomy, endo AAA, valve replacements, pacemaker implants, and similar cases
- Perform perioperative counts, ensure instrument integrity, and restock supplies between cases
- Document perioperative activity in the unit’s EMR system and communicate effectively with surgeons, RNs, and other team members
- Cover scheduled call, weekend, and holiday shifts when assigned; adhere to unit dress code (light blue scrubs provided)

Job Description
This travel assignment seeks a certified Surgical Technologist to support a two-suite cardiovascular operating room in Salem, VA. The role is a day-shift position with primary responsibilities in cardiovascular and thoracic surgery support, including preparation of specialized instrument sets, scrubbing complex cases (CABG, valve work, endovascular AAA, pacemakers, etc.), and assisting the surgical team throughout procedures. The position requires current CST certification, BLS and ACLS, and CVOR experience. The assignment is full-time (40 hours/week) beginning 04/28/2026 and includes an estimated taxable wage plus a weekly stipend. Candidates should be adaptable, experienced with sterile processing and intraoperative workflow, and prepared to participate in call, weekend, and holiday coverage.
