- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a receptionist or customer service role, preferably in a healthcare environment.
- Basic proficiency with computer systems and electronic health record (EHR) software.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines.
- Certification as a Medical Receptionist or Medical Administrative Assistant.
- Experience with specific EHR platforms such as Epic, Cerner, or Meditech.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and healthcare billing processes.
- Bilingual abilities, especially in Spanish or other commonly spoken languages in the community.
- Additional training in customer service or office administration.
- Greet and assist patients and visitors promptly and courteously upon arrival.
- Manage appointment scheduling, cancellations, and rescheduling using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Verify patient information, insurance details, and collect co-payments or fees as required.
- Maintain and update patient records accurately, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Answer incoming phone calls, respond to inquiries, and direct calls to appropriate medical staff or departments.
- Coordinate with clinical and administrative teams to ensure smooth patient flow and timely communication.
- Prepare and organize patient paperwork and documentation for medical staff.
- Handle administrative tasks such as filing, faxing, and managing office supplies related to front desk operations.
