Registered Nurse - Perinatal Specialty

Schedule

This is a full-time position with a shift from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, including every third weekend requirement.

Job Description

The Registered Nurse in the Perinatal specialty provides both routine and complex nursing care to patients in a clinical setting. This role involves independent practice with a strong awareness of all relevant aspects of patient care. The nurse will utilize the nursing process to assess, diagnose, plan, intervene, and evaluate care for assigned patients, while addressing the increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and their families.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care consistent with the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice.
• Administer medications and treatments following appropriate protocols, while monitoring for side effects and effectiveness.
• Document patient history, symptoms, medication, and care provided.
• Assess learning needs of patients and provide education to patients, family members, and caregivers.
• Make appropriate assignments and delegate responsibilities to other care providers as needed.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.
• A minimum of one year of experience in a related nursing specialty is preferred.
• Current RN License in the state of Texas or compact.
• Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NRP are required.
• Certification in Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM) or completion of an AWHONN Intermediate FHM course is required.
