Nutrition Aide

Overview

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Nutrition Aide provides nutrition education through cooking demonstrations, provides hands-on training in basic cooking skills. This position provides information on nutritional health, proper food preparation techniques, and food safety.


Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS
• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
• Six (6) months of related experience.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to build strong working relationships
• Knowledge of basic kitchen skills
• Strong verbal and written communication
• Ability to interpret & use food product nutritional labels
• Ability to lead, mentor, and coach others
• Basic math skills
• Customer service mindset
• Strong organizational skills
• Knowledge of USDA food guidelines & requirements

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk, hear, taste or smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. No special vision requirements.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
• Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating.
• Must possess or obtain a food handler's permit within six (6) months of hire and maintain throughout employment.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
• The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).
• Must meet and maintain pre-employment and periodic background investigation and adjudication for childcare.
