Job Description

The Switcher/Yard Driver plays a crucial role in maintaining efficient yard operations by safely moving trailers within the yard and supporting daily logistical activities. Reporting to the Supervisor, this role involves working closely within a small team of yard drivers to ensure all equipment and trailers are handled in compliance with safety standards and yard organization protocols. The position focuses on short-range driving within the yard, utilizing manual paperwork for documenting yard and load activities.

Responsibilities

• Inspect equipment for safety and operational compliance before use
• Hook and unhook trailers efficiently and safely
• Ensure adherence to all safety regulations and yard policies
• Maintain organization and cleanliness of the yard area
• Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors
• Pull trailers within the yard as directed
• Complete manual paperwork for yard and load documentation

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year experience in yard operations

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
