Description At Brenner Children’s Hospital, we are dedicated to providing exceptional care for children with kidney‑related conditions. Our Pediatric Nephrology team is a dynamic, multidisciplinary group that includes skilled attending pediatric nephrologists and pediatricians, an experienced Physician Assistant (PA), and a compassionate team of nurses and staff. We are looking for an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our team and contribute to the care of pediatric patients across a variety of settings. Responsibilities Provide high-quality, patient-centered care for pediatric nephrology patients, including assessments, diagnostics, treatment planning, and management of conditions like kidney disease, hypertension, and electrolyte imbalances. Work collaboratively with nephrologists, PAs, and the nephrology team to develop and implement comprehensive care plans for both inpatient and outpatient pediatric patients. Support patients and families by offering education on kidney disease, treatment options, and lifestyle modifications. Assist with the coordination of care, ensuring seamless communication among multidisciplinary providers. Participate in the delivery of specialty care across various settings, including inpatient, outpatient, dialysis, and follow‑up care. Opportunities for future training and involvement in specialized procedures such as dialysis, infusion therapies, renal ultrasound, and percutaneous renal biopsies. Use medical decision‑making skills to determine the appropriate patient care plan. Collaborate with the medical team when needed for effective team‑based care. Order and interpret laboratory studies and diagnostic procedures. Explain the necessity, preparation, nature, and anticipated effects of scheduled diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to the patient. Perform procedural skills per department or practice guidelines. Qualifications Physician Assistant (PA) Requirements: Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant Program; Master's Degree preferred. Current North Carolina Medical Board Medical License, Certified by NCCPA. Current American Heart Association or Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) is required to start. Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and Department of Public Safety (DPS) registration, for prescription writing is required to start. Nurse Practitioner (NP) Requirements: Graduation from accredited Nurse Practitioner Master's Program, Master's degree or higher required. Current North Carolina Board of Nursing Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner license. Board certified as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner‑Acute Care by AANP or ANCC. Current American Heart Association or Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) is required to start. Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and Department of Public Safety (DPS) registration, for prescription writing is required to start.
