Assistant Program Coordinator Trainee - Multi-Cultural Student Resource Center Location: Sacramento Work type: Staff Categories: Unit 4 - APC - Academic Professionals of California, Temporary, Full Time, Student Services, On-site Classification Title: Student Services Professional IA (SSP IA) Priority Application Date (Posting will remain open until filled): Wednesday, August 19, 2026 @ 11:55pm PT Position Summary The Assistant Program Coordinator Trainee (APCT) is a trainee-level appointment working under the lead direction of the Serna Center Coordinator and with close supervision of the Director, Multi-Cultural Center (Director). During the trainee period, which is not to exceed 12 months, the APCT is expected to develop and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities to function under general supervision at the SSP IB working level. The incumbent will assist the Director through clearly defined efforts to deliver integrated support services and programming aimed at improving students’ academic success, leadership, professional development, retention, and enrichment of the overall student experience. This position will serve as a mentor and advisor to students. In addition, the APCT will work with interns and student assistants to support staff who design and deliver programs for graduate and/or undergraduate students to promote and raise awareness around student excellence through events/programs, written materials and representation on campus-wide committees. FLSA : Non-Exempt (eligible for overtime compensation) Anticipated Hiring Range : $4,150 per month. Anticipated hire is at the minimum of the classification salary range. CSU Classification Salary Range : $4,150 per month - $5,076 per month Recruitment Type : Temporary (1-Year Limited Duration. Possibility for reclassification into the SSP IB classification for an additional 1-year appointment.) Time Base : Full-Time Work Hours : Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. with occasional evenings and weekends dependent on department needs. Working knowledge of the basic principles of individual and group behavior; research and observation techniques for the purpose of recording, classifying, and interpreting factual information; and the techniques and methods of interviewing. Ability to gather and analyze data; reason logically, draw valid conclusions and make appropriate recommendations; participate in and contribute to group meetings, conferences and interviews; clearly express ideas and recommendations orally; write clear and concise reports; and establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and faculty. Education Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or a job-related field.
