About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Surgical Acute - Medical Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Days Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1 year License: Active state license required Certifications: BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Experience with general medical, neuro, orthopedic, and surgical patients Description: This unit has 34 beds. The patient-to-nurse ratio is 4-5 patients per RN, with the possibility of up to 6 patients depending on needs and staffing situations. Respiratory Therapy handles all respiratory equipment. This is a telemetry unit with centralized monitoring in-house for reading strips. Nurses are not required to titrate drips; this task is handled by the stepdown unit. There are charge nurses present during both day and night shifts to support the nursing staff. Patient Care Technicians are available, with a ratio of 1 PCT for every 8-10 patients. Shifts are 12 hours long, covering both day and night positions from 7 AM to 7 PM. Every third weekend and holiday rotation is required for nursing staff. Floating to other units may occur on occasion. Any color scrubs are acceptable for this role. Orientation length varies based on experience, with 4-5 weeks for experienced nurses. This position does not require a BSN. The facility operates at a Trauma Level 2.
