French Teacher

Carney, Sandoe & Associates, an education recruitment firm, is currently seeking a French Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year at a boarding school in Mercersburg, PA.

Boarding school opportunities may include room and board as well.

French Teacher Responsibilities:

• Teach several sections of French or Spanish courses for upper school students.
• Develop engaging lesson plans and curricula tailored to student needs and follows departmental objectives.
• Organizing events where students can showcase their French language skills.
• Communicate with parents regarding student progress and behavior.
• Participate in regular professional development activities to stay current with best practices and innovation in language education.
• Serve as an advisor for a group of students, offering support, mentorship, and guidance to help them thrive academically and personally.
• Lead or assist co-curriculars which may include coaching, community engagement, outdoor education or arts assignments.
• Participate in residential life duties as needed by the school.

French Teacher Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in French, Spanish, Linguistics, Education, or related required. Master's degree preferred.
• Proven written and verbal proficiency in French.
• 2-3 years of previous teaching experience.
• No teaching license or credential is required.
• Strong interpersonal as well as written and verbal communication skills.
• Organized, dependable, and eager to contribute to the school community.
• Willingness to assist with extracurricular and school community activities.

Additional Desired Qualities:

• Knowledge of ACTFL standards preferred.
• Ability to teach both French and Spanish strongly preferred.
• Language proficiency in both French and Spanish strongly preferred.
