Registered Nurse (RN)

The unit specializes in various patient types, including:

• Total joints
• Cardiac rule out
• Pneumonia
• Psychiatric cases
• General surgery post-operative care

Patient Ratios:

• 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Nurse Aides present with ratios of 1:8 to a maximum of 1:12

Required Certifications:

• BLS (AHA)

Candidates must possess experience and skills in:

• Administration of nitroglycerin
• Insulin management (including initiation and transfer)
• Low dose dopamine and dobutamine (rarely utilized)

RN's are required to titrate heparin drips, which are weight-based. Common titratable and set rate drips include heparin.

RNs are responsible for reading cardiac strips.

• Charge Nurse and House Supervisor roles are available

The unit utilizes:

• CPAP
• BIPAP
• High flow oxygen therapy

This position includes:

• Nights
• Every other weekend rotation
• Holiday schedule will rotate as needed

Traveling staff may be required to float to:

• Medical Telemetry
• Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
• Intensive Care Unit (ICU)

New hires will undergo unit-specific orientation, which may include:

• Opportunity to test out of EPIC if experienced
• Meeting with unit educator and one full shift orientation

The hospital reserves the right to cancel up to four shifts during a 13-week assignment or three shifts for assignments shorter than 13 weeks.

The care setting is acute, focusing on a diverse range of medical conditions across various regions.
