About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 1 year License: Active RN license Certifications: AWHONN Intermediate Electronic Fetal Monitoring, BLS, ACLS, NRP Must-Have: Candidates without these skills will not be considered for the role. Description: The unit has 35 beds with a staff of 160. Day shift includes 2 charge nurses, 24 RNs, 5 Surgical Techs, 1 OR Aide, 1 Transport Tech, 1 Secretary, and 1 Scheduler. Night shift includes 2 charge nurses, 21 RNs, 4 Surgical Techs, 1 OR Aide, 1 Secretary. Patient ratios are 1:1 or 2:1 for laboring, 2:1 for Antepartum Units (APU), and 2:1 for Post Anesthesia Care Units (PACU). Types of equipment include Hill-Rom birthing beds, Alaris IV pumps, GE core metrics FM, Panda warmers, CADD Solis epidural pumps, and NOVI wireless fetal monitoring. The electronic medical record system used is CPN (Centricity) and Meditech. Skill sets most recruited for include travel RNs, local CNAs, and sitters. Preferred skills include: Experience in OR Circulation for Cesarean Sections. Placement of Fetal Scalp Electrode (FSE) and Intrauterine Pressure Catheter (IUPC). Typical procedures performed in the unit include vaginal delivery, cesarean sections, PACU recovery, and antepartum care/testing with continuous electronic fetal monitoring. Scrub color is royal blue. Unit guidelines include policies for Pitocin, cervical ripening, magnesium sulfate, hydralazine, and labetalol. Additional information of interest includes a 13-bed Client Assessment Center for the triage of pregnant patients and 24/7 ancillary services such as anesthesia, neonatal, laborist, and hospitalist services. The unit holds a Baby Friendly designation.
