We're seeking a senior software engineer who is excited about working in a fast-paced startup environment and contributing to the development of innovative product features. You will help ship new features and product improvements for our web app built with React and Typescript. You'll shape new features at all stages in collaboration with product, design, the rest of the frontend team, and other backend engineering teams. From design input to API design to component hierarchy planning you'll have a strong voice in the (virtual) room. As we touch existing features you'll be responsible to refactor, improve, and enhance existing code.

Initial responsibilities include:

• Design, develop, and maintain services and APIs that support our core product features
• Collaborate with product managers, frontend and backend engineers to build innovative product features
• Participate in on-call rotations
• Participate in code reviews and mentor junior team members
• Investigate and troubleshoot complex technical issues

Qualifications:

Required

• 5+ years of building typescript-based React apps in production
• Experience shipping a product from design files to user's browsers
• Experience with testing the right amount with testing suites like Jest
• Ability to design a high level architecture for the app that's flexible but not over-engineered
• Firm grasp of the TypeScript ****language, types, and their nuances, including ES6+ syntax, react hooks, and functional components
• Ability to write well abstracted, composable, and documented components
• Ability to think in a functional way. We use FP from the frontend to the backend, ditching OO ideas
• Rock solid at working with third-party dependencies and debugging dependency issues because its javascript and things break
• Understanding of REST APIs to talk to our backend
• Familiarity with common libraries/tools in the ecosystem; some that we use include zod, swr, react-query, and storybook
• Technical leadership in choosing abstractions, libraries, and patterns to scale the app

Nice to have:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
• Financial industry experience
• An attention to detail and obsession for getting it right
• A bias towards writing; as a remote team we have a strong writing/documentation culture as we communicate asynchronously by default
• We prefer startup experience as we move quickly and decisively
• Strong opinions loosely held but we don't do brilliant jerks
