Summary:This part-time position is for an experienced industry professional who will work with both our off-campus high school cohorts as well as on-campus cohorts in the Nursing Assistant (NA) program. The role focuses on creating a positive, engaging, and hands-on learning environment in both classroom and lab settings, where students can connect lessons to real-world nursing assistant skills. Each day, this instructor should provide students with meaningful, relevant experiences that prepare them for success in the field. Responsibilities include planning, organizing, and delivering clear, effective instruction that supports high school learners in building the knowledge, skills, and professionalism required to enter the healthcare industry. The instructor will inspire and encourage students, helping them grow from learners into confident, capable future professionals.Hours: This position will work as a classroom instructor in various cohorts, Monday through Friday. Clinical instruction on Fridays and/or Saturdays will be required at a minimum of 4 shifts per quarter. Total hours will not exceed 28 per week. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Instruct students in accordance with classroom syllabi, curriculum, planned lab experiences and lesson plans, and provide feedback regarding their effectiveness and convergence with industry practices to full-time instructorsDevelop and execute active and diverse learning experiences which retain the interest of students while transmitting information and developing skills in the most effective manner, with a heavy emphasis on hands-on learning, while maintaining a structured learning environment that complies with the course syllabus and course planCommunicate clear objectives and well-defined competencies for the program and all learning activities. Ensure classroom and lab are prepared for daily learning activitiesAssign and grade class work, homework, tests and assignments in a timely mannerObserve, evaluate, and record student's performance and development and provide appropriate and helpful feedback. Notify full-time instructor when problems develop before they become criticalManage student behavior by establishing and enforcing appropriate rules and procedures; involve full-time instructorEnsure that student data is updated on a real-time basis in Northstar. Maintain integrity and confidentiality in all circumstances, especially concerning student informationAssure safety standards are used which comply with all College, local, City, State and Federal guidelines. Adhere to FERPA requirements and guidelines.Model a professional environment for the students in the classroom and labCommunicate consistently with director, program personnel and high school counselors, if applicable, to ensure the highest level of student successBe an active and participative member of the program's instructional teamActively ensure program follows all guidelines and conditions necessary to meet the standards of COE and UNAR accreditations, if applicableAssist with biannual Occupational Advisory Committee (OAC) meetings as requested, if applicableEnsure that students and staff are treated respectfully and equally without regard to their race, color, religion, sex, age (40 or over), national origin, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, pregnancy, childbirth, or pregnancy-related condition. Report all violations immediately to HR or Student ServicesComply with Dixie Tech Policies and ProceduresOther duties as assignedRequirements and Qualifications:5+ years of industry experience required1+ year of long-term care experience required High School diploma or equivalent requiredUtah LPN or RN License requiredStrong knowledge of Google Suite applicationsStrong communication and presentation skillsThe employee is occasionally required to sit, stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push, and pull items weighing 25 pounds or less. The position requires manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills; and the ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures.
